update on catalina

well catalina is a week and a day old.
she is doing wonderfully nursing, although I am verrry tired[|)]
I am thankful that I am able, so no complaints[;)]

She is on a bili blanket for jaundice.
bella had it too.
With her prematurity and my diabetes, we'd have been surpised if she didn't.

As of friday her levels dropped 2 points. he color is improving and we are feeling confident.We go back to the ped. on monday.

I saw another ped. b/c mine is on vacation, and I love him.
I really want to switch, how do I do that- it is kind of sticky??
I just really really love this Dr.(they are in the same practice)

a/h,I put her in her sling/pouch for the first time and she is doing great.
-btw, if anyone ever want a great suggection for a sling/pouch- get one from www.kangarookorner.com thier fleece pouches are the BEST, and I have like 6 slings/carriers.
the fleece are even comfy in summer,w/ ac of course.
don't worry- they aren't paying me to endorse them[;)]

Bella is adjusting really well to her now.
I ask her, "is that your baby sister?" she says "yesh!"
so cute!!

You're better than I am! I can never get my kids comfy in the sling until they're halfway able to sit up- we baby bjorned it until~ 18 lbs. Now, though, probably through 2 years we're back to the sling. I really want one I can use in the water, so it's easier to shower with the little wiggle monkey.

How do you keep hold of both the little ones? I'm having such a hard time keeping track of camille- I can't imagine having a newborn, too!

That site that I recc'd has a special sling just for showering/swimming. It is mesh!

So far we have only gone to the Dr.'s office. That is less than one mile away.
I put Bella in the stroller- which she hates, and I carry Catalina.
We did get a tandam stroller, so we'll try that out soon(on solo trips I imagine.)
My husband carries Bella in a backpack (she loves it!)and I can sling/bjorn/ or stroll in the carrier/carseat w/ Lina.
Can you tell I've given this a lot of thought;)

thanks for the re: on the poo. Ctalina's has lightened and firmed up a bit , so i feel a lot better now.
As the bilirubin goes down, her poop will get lighter- or so i hear.

IU doubt your ped would be upset if you switch at all. At our ped's office, we are actually encouraged to try all the different doctors and to go with the one that works best for our child.
Luckily, Mason will see anyone, so we just schedule him with whomever is available, but Alex is a different story all together and we have to keep the same doctor every time for him (which of course has to be the BUSIEST doctor as well).

What are her jaundice numbers at? We dealt with it with both boys. Alex's was a bit worse because he was A+ (and I am A-, as was Mason) and he just barely missed the cutoff for the bili lights.

I love updates! I hope she pinks up in no time. That mesh swing sounds cool! Isn't it amazing what gadgets we have for babies?!

I STILL have Janie in the car carrier. She is only 16lbs and I like it that I can transport her when she falls asleep. But, I guess it is time to graduate her...

Her level is 17 as of yesterday morning. she has dropped a point or two per day.
We go back Friday. The pediatrician said the extra day makes it less frustrating.
She is maintaining her weight, but not gaining. I started pumping and supplimenting with breastmilk after each feeding.
I think what is happing is, she is weakened from no weight gain, and thus cannot suck to get stronger and the weight gain also helps with the jaundice, so once one thing turns everything else will fall into place and we will progress.
I was really afraid she would get nipple confusion, but so far so good.
I have high hopes for some weight gain and bili drop this friday am!
Ooh and I spoke to a nurse there who I trust about the Dr.'s thing... She said just make the appt's with whomever you want. the ins is already there and it happens all the time. i felt good about that.

i'll keep yall posted.
