Hi,

Hi everyone. I am new to the board here. I gave birth to Fraternal B/G twins at 36 weeks 3 days. Little Zach was 6 lbs, Little Amanda is 5 lbs.

Does anyone know how much formula they should be drinking at 13 days old? They spent no time in NICU. They came home right away.

Probably 2 ounces or so about every 2-3 hours.

Will 2-6-00 (PE at 35 weeks)
Elizabeth 7-3-01 (NO PE or PIH)
#3 EDD 10-25-04 Its a girl! So far so good!
Proud Aunt to Ethan born 26/27 weeks (March 8th) weighing 1 lb 8 ounces! Our little fighter!
Now 5 months and almost 8 pounds!

My boys were drinking 4 oz bottles by 2-3 weeks of age (Piggies!! and they still are)

I would offer a 4 oz bottle and see how much they take. Each one may prefer a different amount to be full. Youll soon learn them. Samara i did this and she likes 2 oz every 2 hrs and will puke if she tries to take much more so I dont let her and now only make 2 oz bottles. Good luck them

And congrats on those 2 peas in a pod! Wow exciting they are so happy and healthy!
I'm not sure on the formula question...my peanut was in the NICU for six wks.
How much are you kiddos' taking?

The twins are 2 weeks old today. My little boy will take anywhere from 2-4 ounces every 3 hours and the little girl will drink 1.5-2 ounces every 2 hours.

They both have a weight check tommorrow and we will see if they are gaining. I am nervous about the weight check.

Renae,
I still dread weight checks for Jaidyn.
There are days I wish I could just put fishing weights in her pockets ;o)
Lil' Zach sounds like a typical guy, outeatting us girls by 2x ;o)
Amanda might be a lil' slow, could be because she's the smaller of the two and catching up a bit slower...Dr. could be of more help on an answer though.
And if Amanda and Zach are NOT gaining...you might want to mention to the dr. how you could increase calories per bottle safely.
Jaidyn was given a breast milk fotifier that increased her calorie intake to gain faster.
Perhaps there is a method for formula as well.

Samara is over 7 pds and still eats 1.5-2 oz every 2 hours and that is ok for her tummy. I am glad that you were able to figure out what they ate. Are they on a preemie formula. They are eating okay amounts ( I was told 16 oz in 24 hrs) so if they are having problems gaining I would ask for a formula with higher calories and that has MCT Oils in them. Samara is on Pregestimal and is gaining weight alot better now. LEt us know what the docs say about the weight. Take care
