Hi,
Gosh, I just keep giving updates on these micropreemies!! I have no idea why Chicago has a bunch of them! Anyway, there was an article on the front page of the Chicago Tribune today about a micropreemie who was born 9.9 oz and she celebrated her 15th birthday with a party at Loyola Med Center. Her mom had pre-e at...24 weeks, I think. Anyway, she is doing great. She scored about 85% on her high school entrance exams. She is about 4 feet, 9 inches, so she is pretty small but she did great. At about 4 yrs old she was admitted with pnuemonia, but heck, my son had it about 3 times one year...the year after he kept getting RSV. Anyway, she looked great. Just wanted to give the update. The doc was giving his play by play and he said the first thought that came to his head when he saw her was unprintable and the next thought was -thank goodness she is a girl!! It was a real neat story and I just gravitate towards the preemie stories anyway.
Have a great day and hug your preemies tight and thank God for surfacant (sp?)!!!!!!!!!!!
