Update on Alex speech (IEP)

Well we compl,etely rewrote Alex's IEP yesterday. The meeting went really really well. He had achieved all his goals from his old IEP (big yeah) and in many situations is now considered to have age appropriate speech (WOOT!). His new goals focus more on gaining relevance in his speech and better being able to use his speech to communicate when he gets upset, as well as finding alternatives for him when he gets upset besides just crying and getting frustrated. They also deal with increasing his interactions with peers for longer periods.

All in all it went very well and they are optamistic about having him ready to face a full size kindergarten class next year.

It sounds like you had a great IEP meeting! Congrats on him achieving all of his goals. That is great news! i am sure his new goals will be met in no time and he will be ready for that kindergarten class!
