tips for getting daughter to use potty at night

Hi everyone! Victoria will be 3 in January and in the last month has been doing VERY well using the potty during the day. She loves her big girl undies and loves the bathroom- potty, washing hands, turning on the light, but nap time and bed time she still needs help and usually once or twice a week pees through a pull up or a diaper. We have tried giving her less to drink in the evenings and even nothing to drink after like 6:30 but she is still quite wet in the mornings. Is there anything short of waking her up during the night that I can do to help her use the potty during the night? I am so proud of how good she is at the potty during the day and don't want to really pressure her too much because then she refuses to use the potty at all, she is very strong-willed and thick-headed! I am okay with letting her set the pace but wouldn't mind her using the potty at night at least once a week. Any and all advice or tips is greatly appreciated!

She probably isn't able to wake up at the need to potty yet. My DD is in the same boat as yours. She is starting to wake up dry from naps so we are going to attempt napping in her panties next week. Night time is different though. She sleeps really soundly and doesn't wake up to pee. She also soaks through her pull ups three or four nights a week. I've read some about training and don't think you are supposed to wake them at night. I have started putting those thick cotton training pants on her over the pull up and they catch whatever soaks past the pull up. It just keeps me from having to wash sheets everyday. Sometimes she wakes up early and takes off her pull up and goes to the potty before I get up. We put a fairly bright night light in the bathroom so she can go by herself- she is sacred of the dark. That has helped in the mornings and hopefully when she starts to wake up in the night to pee she will be able to go without waking us up. Good Luck!

My daughter Bethanie potty trained at the age of 3. I would always put a pull up on her at night (she no longer took naps then). After she was potty trained for about 2-3 months she told me she didn't want to wear a pull up any more so I didn't put them on her, that was a year ago and she probably hasn't wet the bed 10 times total since then. I know they have those over nights (I think that's what they are called) that are like pullups/diapers, maybe they would be more absorbant but I'm not sure.

We went cold turkey with the panties. When we finally decided to start wearing them during the day, we kept them on her through the night. The first two nights she wet the bed, and from then on, no accidents during the day or night (except when she pooped in her pants at school Monday and Tuesday). I think she's afraid of wetting her panties and her bed, so she wakes up and tells us she has to pee. But with pullups she would just wet them because she considered them diapers. So, cold turkey worked for us. Good luck!

I'd be really wary of waking her up in the night to pee - a friend of mine did that and was still getting disturbed nights when her son was 5.

I was pretty lazy about potty training - Jay just said one day he didn't want to wear nappies anymore and that was that. We used pull ups for a while at night, but they were always dry, so we stopped. i think they just get to a point when they know their own bladders. I think Jay was about 3.
