Books on post pardum deppresion

My sister-in-law had a little girl Oct.25 and the next day her husband filed for divorce[}:)]. She is having a really hard time and is having severe ppd. Does anyone know any good books about it? I have been calling her often, but I thought maybe some literature would be good. She is a very "booky" kind of person...Thanks

Oh, that poor thing!!!! That just made me feel sick! What an #$%^&*( the least he could do is let her recover and try to enjoy her newborn. SOME men are such selfish pigs. I dont know of any books, but babycenter has some forums for mothers with ppd, maybe they could help.

Good idea....I know, my husband and I had some choice words about him!! He has been an a#*h*#*e since they got married 2 years ago. He told her he was swept up in the moment but doesn't love her[}:)]. Whatever, all I have to say is Kharma !!!!

I wish I knew of some good books; I think it will be tricky for her to separate the effects of getting divorced from those of ppd.

Hey Mada,

Sorry this is so late-I have been away from my computer for a bit. My friend who is a psychologist recomended these 2 books for ppd. "This is Not What I Expected" by Kleiman Raskin and "Women's Moods" by Sichel & Driscoll. The 2nd also discussed depression during preg. Thanks so much for the suggetions Nancy...I am going to email her that link and pick up one of those books for her. She is really struggling and had a consultation with a phsycologist prior to leaving the hospital. I suggested she try to get out with Mackenzie and go walking but she had a c-section and she lives in Manhattan and has to climb stairs with the baby and stroller to leave her apartment so it's really hard for her. So reading is quite a good option for her and I know how much it can make someone feel better just to hear others experiences and know that they aren't over reacting or alone....Again thanks a bunch..Hope you have a great thanksgiving[:)]
