Hey girls,

I did my first Pilates tape yesterday. If I said, "Pathetic Core" would you know what I was talking about?!

Michelle,

How's that Ella?

Nancy, I have a vague sense, I say vague because I haven't been to my pilates class since last October. If you like the tapes you should consider trying to take an introductory class somewhere. I got started as much to support a dance friend of mine who was opening her own studio as for the workout, so I took her intro course which was 8 classes long. She really explained the technique, compensations when you can't do it right off, working in your torso and the linking moves. I had a tape but didn't like it, I didn't understand the rythmn of it. If I could only get my workday in order then I'd be back. I used to go at my lunch hour but I'm working through it most days, I'm so late getting started.. I used to be in by 8.30 but now it is more like 9.15 and I spend my life running to catch up.

My current issues are my inner thighs, or should I say inner pies (too much good stuff at Christmas). There is no stretch left in me at all. I've lost all my limberness and it makes me feel so old. I guess it is what you get when you are pregnant or nursing for 3 solid years, especially at my age... will menopause feel like this???[xx(]

How is the pilates different from yoga? I likes ma yoga. [:p]

I did my 45 min on my elliptical tonight- I MUST get started again, but I live in a den of diet saboteurs... HELP!

Also- I'm working on learning to make more meat-lite dinners for a family of meat and tater lovers- any suggestions?

Hey Catherine,

I like my tape but, I think I am going to take a class anyhow. I find it very relaxing.

What is it with the inner pie/thigh thing? My Janie skinny legs has that little pudge too. What's the deal?

Nancy,

Be gratful that your skinny minnie has pudge somewhere! I love chubby thighs on babies!! My girl is getting pudgy and refuses to open her mouth for any babyfood that isn't sweet, the monkey!! She is still such a sweet natured girl. She'snow getting up at 3 am to eat, but I put her back down and then when I get up at 7:30, I check on her and she is wide awake, playing in her crib giving me the biggest smiles.

As for our thighs, pilates really helps with that. My thighs are humongous!!! They have been going down though since I am back on track. I think the dpinning plus the pilates has helped alot. Interestingly, my middle needs work too. My pants are loose in the butt and thighs but still alittle tight in the middle. I never had that problem before so it is hard to change my workout habits. Oh well!!

Good for you, Michelle, to know what to do. I have so many "problem" areas it is hard to know what to work on first. Sadly enough, I gained back 15 lbs since Oct. So, here I am starting over again...sigh. But, I really like Pilates and I walk or do the eliptical trainer daily. I still do weights but, like you I cut back. The biggest change I made is I try to eat 2 servings of fruits or veggies at every meal. I cut out sugar-and yes, I am hard to live with! It's the stickin' to it that I really have to work on!

Good to hear from you.

Gratz!

I have lost half the weight I want to (35lbs from August to December)
and am hoping to lose another 30 lbs by May hehe. I have done mostly walking, some pilates and belly dancing, and reduced the calories in my diet.

Hi Erin, did you like the belly dancing? I have a couple of friends who are really into it. Didn't seem like something that I could relax doing but if it helps......
