RSV.. we have it!

Hi all, Chloe is 15 lb, 24 inches and has a tidal wave of snot running out of both nostrils [:p] and a cough. Two of the babies in her room at daycare have tested positive so no surprise!! I'm not concerned, she is fine, doesn't even mind the snotsucker vacumning her out on a regular basis [xx(]. I just wanted to remind you guys that it is possible to get some of the vaccines in combined form, resulting in fewer shots. She was at the peds office for her 6 month visit tuesday and only had two shots for a vaccine total of 4!! Such a change, when Lucy was at the same stage it was 4 or 5 shots a visit. This is so much nicer.

Awww, I am so sorry that she has it. I hated it when my son got it. So stressful. Good luck with the healing process!!

Chloe would thank you all for your kind wishes, for now she is just a sad little rednosed blob, just a little chunk of misery. I feel so bad for her. This is the first time I've ever had a sick baby to deal with. Finn has only had the one ear infection and a hideous rotavirus experience at around 14 months and Lucy has only ever had a couple of fevers and throw-up episodes, only in the last 6 months or so. As a result, I'm a complete novice. I guess you never stop learning

Catherine! I must have missed that Chloe had RSV. How is she now? I have to tell ya, I take RSV much more seriously than I used to. Last year in Feb, Will got it. We took him to he ER at Childrens Hospital because of his breathing. He tested positive for RSV and Influenza A. BOTH! They admitted him right away. Needless to say, he got much worse during our 2 WEEK hospital stay! He had to be intubated because his oxygen in his blood was too low on Valentines Day! Worst day of my life! They put him in ICU for 2 days. While there, he developed Rota virus, an ear infection AND Viral Pnemonia!!!!!! He was 5 months and about 16lbs. Horrible experience!! I hope that she is better!!!!!!! It is sooooo stressful!

I just logged on for the first time in a while. Travler has been sicke with RSV for over 2 weeks now. We spent 4 days in the hospital and then it looked like he was on the mend. We took him in yesterday and he is now on breathing treatments. He feels rotten and I am miserable. I sat propped up on the sofa last night and held him vertical so he could breath.

Here is the thing that makes me mad. We asked his doctor about the Syneges (sp?) vaccine to prevent RSV. He thought it was a good idea since Travler came early and was small. We had to go through all this paper work with our insurance company and by the time we got the vaccine approved Travler was sick with the virus.

It is a shame that the paper pushers that hold you up do not know how hard I had to work to get this precious baby here.

You poor thing!!! I just Hate how hard it is to get that shot. I seemed to have skipped it this year, although, I did give Ella a few precautionary treatments with the kids' nebulizer. Hang in there, the season is halfway over!!!
