Hello there! I need some sanity, and reading this forum i realize i'm not alone.
I delivered on 3/3/04 at 35wks3d after my history of HTN, gest diabetes, etc. Baby Emily was 5lbs,6oz and is beautiful and doing great. We both came home 2days after delivery. I had her early, as we expected, since my bp's were still around 160/110 after being hospitalized for 5 days. they are labile, jumping all over the place(even down to 115/74), ALL of my labs were normal. So, my dr's expected them to come down after delivery, and they didn't. My nephrologist(who i've been seeing for 15 yrs after the experience with my first son), took me off the Labetolol and Aldomet last tuesday and begged me to stop breastfeeding so he can get me on some other things. I did, it wasn't going well anyway, and now i'm on HZT 12.5mg /day; Norvasc 5mg twice day; Monopril 10 mg/day; and Toprol XL 50 mg/ twice day. I was controlled prior to pregancy by the monopril and norvasc. my bp on friday in the dr office was 172/118, and i am petrified to take it at home. I feel so much better the past few days, we've been to the mall and out and about and i really feel good, so i don't want to spoil it by seeing a high bp( i used to be soo very diligent about taking it at home.) I go back to dr's tomorrow for another bp check(was there 4 times last week ,and had a normal EKG). We looked back on my chart to 15 yrs ago, and my bp's were 150/100 and bouncing around a few months after delivery then.
I plan on asking for labwork(thyroid, metabolic studies and blood count), i'm sure and hope they'll be normal. I hope I can get a great reading like you did, YEA![:)]. I know it can take awhile for the bp to return to normal, and i'm sure my anxiety isn't helping.
Thanks for listening to me vent!!!
