Reflux is acting up again

So after trying another new med (Prevacid) DD has to ahve an upper GI on Thurs. I can't wait until she has outgrown this! She is spitting up all the time again. Doesn't want anything but a bottle. And wakes up in the night just screaming. We are giving her Mylanta to calm her heartburn, but obviously that comes after she's in pain. I just hate seeing her like this.
Sorry, I just needed to vent! Thanks for listening to my rambling.

I seem to remember that Ainsley's reflux flared up again really bad when she was about 10-11 mos old. The good news is, at 14 months, it went away completely. Now she is 16 months old, and finally tolerating cow's milk and she eats everything in sight, with no reflux. So, there is hope!! I know how awful it is, though...

Denise, go ahead and vent and know I am right there beside you. We are now trying prilosec. Evan has been spitting up about 7-8 times after each bottle, and getting 2 baths a day so we can stand to be around him, he is on soy formula and boy does it stink when it comes back up.[:p].Then every once in a while (3-4 times a day) he will be smiling and then let out this blood curtiling scream and will scream for 30-45 minutes.

Reflux STINKS!!!!

I hope little Ariana feels better soon.

How did it go today, Denise? I feel so bad your babies have to do those awful tests. Hang in there, everyone-reflux really sucks!

Can I ask you guys a question? For about the last couple of months or so, Tristan has been spitting up quite a bit after just about every bottle. Sometimes he spits up about 4 or 5 times, and sometimes it's just a GUSH of liquid. I can usually defend against it if I'm quick, because it's preceeded by a little burp or hiccup or something that I'm hearing. Is this reflux, or is it just an immature digestive system, or what?

Amy, It sounds like it can possibly be reflux, Evan used to burp before he spit-up but now he likes to sneek it on us[:p]. Does he seem to be in pain? When Evan is having problems not only does he spit-up tons but he also cries uncontrolably and he arches his back. It is probably worth having it checked out in any case.

Evan seems to be doing a little better on the Prilosec. How is Ariana, what did the UGI show?

My first was 7 weeks preemie and she had reflux really bad!!! She would cry for hours on end!!! She would burp and you would hear it come up, but she didn't actually spit it up, that is why it took so long for the doctor to figure out the problem. We did Mylanta and Zantac which worked a little, also I was told to pump and give bottles thickened with rice cereal which stayed down a little better, and Enfamil makes formula called Enfamil AR that is already thickened with cereal. But what long days hearing a baby cry all day not being able to do much for them, I really feel for you, but I do assure you once they get mobile it usually goes away! Good luck with the tests!
