Post Partum PE and menstruation

Has anyone had thier post partum PE symptoms go away or significantly reduce when you got your first period? Last week, I got my period, I still have it...and meanwhile I have been watching my bp drop lower every day. Today it was 116/74 before I took my meds....[:D] I decided not to breastfeed, so I have gotten my period at 6 weeks post partum. We feel that my preeclampsia was caused by the pregnancy hormones in my system, so that would explain my symptoms going away, along with the hyperreflexia...i have better control of my movements. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I have never been so glad to see my period in my whole entire life....

Ps...if this is the case, those with PP PE....HANG IN THERE, THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL, BELEIVE ME!!!!!!!!!

So glad you are feeling better!! I have no idea if it's because of your period or what but it's a good theory!!

You know what I wonder? Swelling and hypertension is made worse by some hormones- I still swell up like the pillsbury dough boy and my bp hikes in the week before AF comes to town- hormones=swelling=high blood pressure, and then when I start- ahh, it goes away! So glad to hear that your bp is getting better!

I can't remember the details about my bp and first period after delivery, but I can tell you this...

I had 2 periods this month [:(!], and my bp skyrocketed, along with a lot of swelling. STRANGE, but I am more than convinced that hormones play the key role in my "essential" hypertension....

SPeaking of periods....So glad someone touched on this! :) I am having my first after Anna was born. I am bleeding something horrible. Bright red and alot! (No clots) This is the first time I have bled this bad after a baby. I guess this can be normal?!??!?!?!

mine is really heavy too...kind of like lochia. With clots, cramps and all. My mother has always told me that the first period after pregnancy is the worst...so yes, I guess that is normal.[:D]
