I too had this sometime after my first child. Repeat pap in 6m showed a little more abnormality. They took a couple of biopsys during a Colposcopy which came back as CIN 2. I had laser ablation (sp?) which got rid of it all. I was rechecked at 3m, 6m & 6m and now have annual pap smears instead of 2 yearly as recommended.
It's not uncommon at all to have a initial abnormal pap and then for it to be fine at the next one. In fact, I had to argue for my colposcopy as the gyn dr kept saying they'd just repeat the pap in 6m. I don't know how many times I had to explain my GP had already done that and that's why I was there! I wonder if the integrity of the sample can vary causing an unusual result. Sometimes I will bleed a little and I'm sure that would skew the pathology somewhat.
I don't believe there is any relation to PE.
