Article in Pregnancy Magazine this month....

Note: not sure if this is posted anywhere else. I tried to do a search, but couldn't come up with anything.

I just got my Pregnancy magazine today and am paging through it while surfing here at PF. I read the story of the woman who had PE and turned the page to an article on PE. And Anne Garrett is quoted in it!!!! Thanks for coordinating this article Anne and I'm sure Eleni!!! This is what pg women need to see!!! THANK YOU!!![:D]

As irony would have it, I was at my first appt today for this current pregnancy, and was handed a copy of the Pregnancy magazine with the article on Pre-E in it. I smiled and gave it to my husband to read. Hypertension or High Blood Pressure is known as the "silent killer" for a reason. You are most often totally unaware that it's wreaking havoc on your body until something big happens. That's why I talk to all my friends or any pregnant women I may know at the time about Pre-e and it's warning signs. Education now is better than 20/20 hindsight after a crisis.

I was at the OB's office today and happened to read the magazine and was delighted to read the article!!! Nice job, Anne and Dr. Easterling too. There was another "Birth Story" about a woman who was diagnosed with PE (Denise referenced it too)- I thought it was interesting b/c it read something like "...told me I had toxemia (preeclampsia)..." I thought that 'toxemia' was an old-school term. Do docs still use it?

I chuckled b/c I opened the magazine to all the beautiful models with big bellies and thought to myself, 'oh yeah? where's the article on preeclampsia?' As if on cue... there it was!!! [:D]

Anyway, it felt like a little piece of home in there!
