Hi
I have PCOS and also a luteal phase defect. I ovulate regularly but around cd 20 and af arrives cd 28-30. Both times I have conceived it has been on non-medicated cycles! With the luteal phase defect they can prescribe progesterone to help if needed. I had PE with my first, and miscarried my second (reason unknown, but I didn't get the early care I was expecting).

Hi,
I am one who has PCOS and had PE also. I do not ovulate regularly and had to take clomid to conceive Teagan. I have been working on trying to figure out the connections also! There is definitely something going on!!

Hi Julie,
Thank you for all the links! Very helpful and informative; I'm interested to see if I do have insulin resistance with PCOS (at this point - not much will surprise me). Just 3 more weeks to wait unti I see the RE and get all the blood work to clarify my "issues" [:D].

PCOS and Pre-eclampsia

Postby jdsmom » Fri May 26, 2006 10:28 am

Hi - I'm new here. I've posted just a couple times before several months ago, but always like to read others inputs as I've found a lot of great info on these boards.
Our first child was born at 31 weeks in May of '03 due to severe pre-e/HELLPS; he was 6 weeks in the hospital before we could bring him home. That first year was a bumpy one with tons of sicknesses and several ER trips. Nonetheless, he's doing fine having only had to have one operation for a hernia. We are so grateful that he has done so well and is a healthy 3 year old.
We got off birth control pill and started trying for our second child a couple months ago and haven't had success yet. I charted my temps because I knew I had cycle issues (from previous times being off bcp). I think I may have PCOS (though undiagnosed at this point - have an appointment with a reproductive endocrinoligst in a couple weeks) and now, after charting, see that I have a very short luteal phase at 7 to 9 days. It's frustrating to wait, but I'm glad to be at least seeing a specialist soon.
I've read that PCOS is a strong precursor for preeclampsia. Does anyone else here have PCOS or a luteal phase defect? Has anyone heard any other corrolation between PCOS and pre-eclampsia? Just thought I'd get your opinions.
Thanks!
