Thinking of another....BP meds, ok?

Hi, our little one just turned a year old and we are now starting to think about another baby but I got a question...
Can you conceive while on BP meds?

It depends on what medication you are taking. Some are some, some are not. What are you currently on? You will need to talk to your doctor to see what s/he recommends.

There are a few BP meds that are safe... Call your doctor before you start TTC to have him/her switch you over a safe BP med. This way your body is used to them....

Absolutely. But as the others have suggested, do check with your doctor first. I would also consult with a perinatologist for a pre-conception visit, if you haven't done this yet.

I'm currently taking a calcium channel blocker, "Diltiazem", and I have the green light from my doctors to TTC while taking it.

Hi Adriana - Most definitely, there are blood pressure meds that are safe to take while trying to conceive. My fertility doctor referred me to a perinatologist while we were ttc. Fertility doctor made sure that I got in with the peri before they implanted the embryos. Once in with the perinatologist, he put me on blood pressure meds that I was on during preconception, pregnancy, while in labor, post-partum, and to this day (I have essential hypertension, which I was diagnosed with while ttc). Which meds? This is up to your doctor. Hopefully, you have a great one like I did, who'll really watch out for you and prescribe what's best for you and your baby.

Thanks for your answers! I am currently on Metoprolol and Clonidine (sp?). I'm going to see my OB in a couple of weeks. There aren't any peri's near where I live, the closet is probably an hour away. But my docs have different views on my wanting to concieve again. My cardio doc says no way and my ob says ok. It's kind of scary.
