Prenatal Vitamins

Can prenatal vitamins make you feel sick? I have been taking them for about a week now. I take them around 10 or 11 at night. For the last couple of days I start to feel sick around noon. Could it be the vitamins? I didn't have a problem with them last time... Thanks a bunch!

I think that the high iron in the vitamins can cause nausea. Maybe you can try taking them with some food and/or milk and see what happens. Are you sure you're not preggars...?[;)]

LOL You guys are funny. Don't think the thought hasn't crossed my mind. I do feel like I did with DD. Too early to take a test though. I was just trying to find something else to blame it on...[:I] I wouldn't be too upset if I were, just hadn't planned on having another one this soon. Wanted to wait a few more months. Will let you guys know.

HI Amanda- I am very sensitive to the iron in prenatal vitamins and when I look back, I think it was the major cause of my morning sickness. You might want to ask your doc about taking flinstones- I take two a day instead of the prenatals and they haven't been bothering me. Just make sure you are getting enough folic acid- I think there are different flinstone's out there.

Amanda-

I was sick from the pre-natals with my DD. While I was pg. So I switched to NATA-Chew. They are chewable and that seemed to help. I am now on Precare Conceive Tablets which have the highest strenth of folic acid and they can be a bit much for me some days. So if I take them with food and it does help. Banannas are a good quick fix and with hypertention offers the extra stuff that I need for my diet. I once heard that milk can block some of medicines absorbtion but that could be a wives tale.

Prenatals have made me not feel good sometimes also, especially on an empty stomach. I always take them with a meal (breakfast usually) and that seems to help. Calcium, like in milk, isn't the best to take with iron, that is why there is such little calcium in prenatals (I think). It is good to take with OJ though. Hope you feel better!!!!

The only prenatal's that didn't make me sick was the floguard 2.2 which is very high in folic acid, B12,Cal, and everything else that we need!!...
They just came out with a generic 3 weeks ago as a month supply was over 200.00. I'll have to look up the new name!!!...

I was never able to take prenatals while pg, I am taking them now with no problems guess I will know when I'm pg eh? during my pg I took gummi vites from costco, like triple the dose since its for kids plus took folic acid.
