AF TMI, but need advice...

Postby cmccaffrey » Wed May 11, 2011 02:33 pm

So I was supposed to start my period on Friday, but I started it Monday(5 days early) around midnight. I usually have a 30-31 day cycle and this month it was only 27 days. Could I of had anovulatory cycle? I actually thought I might have been pregnant and was waiting till Friday to take a test, but then out of no where my period started, but my temps were still high until yesterday. It was pretty regular in flow(with clots) for about 36 hours and now its just spotting. I usually have my period for 4 or 5 days. Should I call my doctor or just chalk it up to a strange cycle?

I just don't know if I am reading too much into this AF business or what....

pre-pregnancy my periods were always 30 days. Now they're 27, 28, 29- variable. My doc tells me that pregnancy can change your periods, but even the shorter cycle you described is still in normal limits. I think that anonvulatory cycles tend to be longer than normal, but that they can be the same cycle length or even shorter. I don't chart my bbt, but I've heard that can help you know when you have an anovulatory cycle bc of lack of thermal shifts (or something! maybe one of the charting gals can help with that). Also, maybe you just had a "chemical pregnancy" or very early miscarriage. I've heard those can be confused with a normal period.

yeah.... according to my bbt it wasn't anovulatory and it very well could have been a chemical or early miscarriage, except that it was only 2 days, which is WEIRD. I am usually one of those gals who has a fairly medium to light 5 day period. Also, my period is over with, but I am still having some mild cramping, my breasts hurt and I have veins showing all over my body. I usually get the vein thing before my period, but it goes away fairly quickly afterwards. I am just wondering if my period is going to start back up or something. It's WEIRD.

Hmmmm yeah my periods have changed a bit since pregnancy.....I would take a pregnancy test anyway ay some point once you would be considered "late" for a period since you are having these symptoms I mean I have heard of so many who got a period and were pregnant :D

yeah, I would agree about testing just to be sure. Since your cycle and the flow was so unusual for you it wouldn't hurt to check!

I have very weird cycle anything from 35 to 56 days. My doc says that it would be the longer cycles that are anovulatary not the shorter ones. Doc also stated that weird cycles do not affect ability to concieve. As other posters were saying it could be a chemical preg or maybe it could be implantation bleed. My sister and I both had implantation bleed but light in nature. However, my friend had heavy implantation bleed. Good luck with everything.x

Well all tests have been negative (I took another this morning just in case). I honestly think it was a chemical pregnancy. I just have this feeling like something wasn't right and that was not just my period...Maybe that's just me not being able to let things be normal for once. I am waiting to get that :) on the opk so I can get started for this month. We are trying sperm meets the egg this month. It seems to be a lot of fun so far. ;)

Also, I went to see my doctor this morning because I still don't feel quite right and even she agreed that I have pregnancy symptoms so she ran a blood test. She is also checking for mono and checking my thyroid, blood glucose and anemia levels. I swear I am not trying to imagine that I am pregnant... early pregnancy is exciting, but it is NOT that fun if I remember correctly. I would much rather be pregnant with no symptoms, than have all these symptoms and not be pregnant. In general, I would just like to feel like myself.
