strange stuff at the docs...

Went for my preconception consult... Dr. ordered all the blood work, and urine...but also ordered MRI, CT, and nerve studies....Wierd? He told me to hold off on TTC until all the tests were done and results were back so we could discuss. BP was 140/90 exactly, proteinuria too. any thoughts?

Hi Wendy - Is this the very first time meeting with this doctor, and did he have access to all of your medical history? Maybe (and this is what I'm hoping) he just wants to make sure that all systems are functioning properly and that he's "erring" on the side of caution before he gives the aok.

As for the 140/90 and the proteinuria, if it were me, I'd hope that he's gonna be proactive (as my doctor was) and treat that, too. I know that I sound like a broken record, but I really REALLY want you to feel comfortable with your doc and to able to talk to him. I'm hoping that if you call his office, they'll be able to tell you why he ordered all of these tests, what they're looking for, and what they want the results to be. It's so important that you have a great doctor/patient relationship and that he can answer all of your questions. And it also is helpful to have a great nurse and staff at his office. Since you already had preeclampsia, I want you to not have worries this time around as you ttc, and a great doc and staff helps so much.

Sounds like this dr is great, really proactive. That BP does seem high and the protein also, so guess he is being careful. All the best with the tests and hope you get to TTC soon.

I don't think there is such a thing as a doctor who is too thourough. I am sure he is just covering all of his bases. Good luck on your tests. I'll be watching for you TTC announcement!![;)]

Wendy, ditto to what everyone else has said in pp. I too have protienuria and high bp postpartum, and am medicated for it.
