Saliva ovulation testing question

Since we are planning on ttc at the end of the year I thought that doing some charting now would be a good idea. I have pcos so ovulation is erratic. Ellie was conceived on a cycle when the hospital told me I hadnt ovulated, and it appears that I ovulated around day 24 when they tested me day 21. This would explain why I have spent a fortune on opk's in the past with no o showing!

I have read about saliva ovulation testing kits (not sure Im allowed to say the name on here, but it begins with a C and ends with an A!). Charting temps doesnt work for me, my temps are unreliable (I do it anyway lol!). This saliva kit sounds good, but I wondered if anyone had tried it and what they thought of it? It seems a good alternative and although there is a higher initial outlay Im sure it would be cheaper than opks for me as I will have to test for longer.

Sue,
I don't have any experience in saliva monitors, but have you checked into purchasing a Clearplan Fertility Monitor? I bought one on EBAY for a lot less than what you would pay in the stores. It's still fairly pricey, but seems a lot more reliable than traditional OPKs. I have yet to use it, but I've read a lot of positive reviews on them. I think that as long as your cycle is between 21-42 days you can use it with pretty accurate results. I think what it does is store your cycle information and after a few cycles, it gives you an indication of "low," "high," and "peak" fertility.
Good luck!

Hope I didn't break any rules with all that info... Sorry!

Best of luck, I have always had luck with the OPKs, so never tried anything else.
