Doctor Referrals

Postby kim » Tue Aug 19, 2003 08:30 am

Just a suggestion to the other chapters...

I went to the nasshp.org site and found all the docs in my state. Most of them were located at one of the med schools, so I emailed them and asked if they had any colleagues, etc... in other areas in Tx. So far, two of them have replied with helpful info!!
Take care,

I think this is an important service that chapters can provide--get a list of referrals in your area and have those available for your women. Remember that it is not uncommon for OBs to be sued (witness the high cost of malpractice insurance) and so if you hear of a doctor who was sued--it does not necessarily mean he or she messed up. This disease is tricky--invisible signs and symptoms for the women, rotating doctors at HMOs, it is really hard to say if a doctor was bad or not...but it would be good for chapters to keep notes (confidential notes) about the comments on the doctors. Personally, I would prefer the notes be as non-litigious as possible--just "nice bedside manner", "takes time to explain things..." "good staff" etc...

Thanks for all your work Kim--you are doing a great job.
