Wisconsin Walk-a-thon

My name is Alissa and I live in Beaver Dam and I have begun planning a walk-a-thon here in town. I am very new to this sort of thing-never done anything like this before. I have a handful of ladies interested in walking but no registered walkers yet. I have 3 company sponsors so far and am planning on asking almost everyone in town. I just secured the location and am waiting for a phone call from the city clerk about whether or not I need a permit. I am very excited about the whole thing and am looking forward to walking. I welcome all suggestions and am hoping for a decent turnout. It is a busy weekend here in town so I am not sure how many people have previous plans but am optimistic that it will go well.

Wanted to give you all an update on how things are going with the walk. Right now we are expecting between 40 and 50 walkers with about 35 already registered. On Sunday May 1 we are holding a brat fry here in town at one of the major grocery stores. I am still waiting to hear from the govenors wife as to whether or not she will be here. I have had a lot of support from family and friends and can't wait for the walk to come to see how everything works out. The businesses in town are a little leary about the walk, I am guessing since it is the first year and many of them haven't heard about preeclampsia before they are hesitant to donate anything. Hopefully next year they will be more ready to pitch in with donations and spreading the word. We got an article in the newspaper and there will be an article on my motherhood experience with a mention of the walk a thon in the county magazine for their May issue which I am looking forward to seeing. Just wanted to let you all know how things are going here in Wisconsin.

The closer it gets to the walk the more interest is being generated and better things are going. I am looking forward to Saturday and can't wait! As of right now we have about 43 registered walkers with at least a dozen more hoping to join us that day! I am so excited and never thought that it was going to be as big as it is.
