HELLP stages
Re : HELLP stages
The "stages" of HELLP are determined by platelet count: stage 1 is under 50 million/L (severe), stage 2 is between 50 and 100 (moderately severe) and stage 3 is greater than 100 (mild). I believe, and I may be mistaken, but the "normal" levels are between 150 and 400. I was class/stage 2, by a string, at 50 and did not require a transfusion, but there are several here who have. The labs that are commonly referred to a pih labs test all of these areas (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets).
