Pamelapoff -
I was told when I get pregnant again since they found an underlying disorder (factor V) that I would be on Lovenox shots (blood thinner like heparin) for the entire pregnancy...it should help the factor v clots to not effect the pregnancy thus prolonging the PE and HELLP.

I lost my son at 34 weeks. HELLP came out of the blue. I went to bed fine and woke up in terrible pain. I have 2 random questions. Is PET short for 'preeclampsia? And what do you all think of being on heparin injections during pregnancy?

I had one pregnancy deliver at 28 weeks due to IUGR. My last pregnancy (last yr) we delivered at 26 weeks and we lost the baby. I had HELLP ...I will tell you that I went to an MFM to get a consult and some answers in addition to discussing surrogacy with him. He was encouraging that we could have another baby...he found I had a blood clotting disorder and hopes that dealing with that will help the IUGR not show up again and suggested that HELLP has a small chance of showing it's ugly head again...
It's a rough decision...trust me, we are in the process now...

Hi! I had preeclamsia with my first and third, they were both full term but I had to be induced with both. I am considering getting pregnant with a fourth, but my OB is saying if she was to vote -her vote would be "no". I am afraid of going to see an specialist because I think the answer is going to be the same. I researched a lot about this and I am very conflicted about it. Any advise?

I remember seeing a link to questions to ask at the appointment, does anyone know it?

I really hate it when docs tell you not to have any more children. Here's the thing: a doctor cannot tell you what you *should* do. A doctor can give you advice about the likely odds of various and sundry medical complications given what he or she knows about you.

But decisions about what you *should* do next, given that information, are yours. Those decisions don't belong to the docs.

When I asked about having a second my doctor's exact words were "Why don't you just shoot yourself in the head, it would be quicker."

Needless to say I no longer see him. Especially since throughout my whole pregnancy he kept saying everything was normal and I was very sick. I saw a MFM doc who said if I was properly managed I could have another.

If you don't like your doc, go elsewhere.

I had HELLP with my pregnancy last year - and now I have been told I have Factor V and when I get pregnant again I will be on blood thinners the entire pregnancy. My Specialist believes he can get me to deliver a healthy baby...I am nervous about trying again as the previous one ended in a loss of our daughter at 25 weeks...just trying to meet people and talk to people with similar experiences...anything you can offer is helpful.

For what it's worth I had HELLP first pg and my baby died, PET in the 2nd delivery at 35 weeks and sever PET and emminent eclampsia with this one, delivery at 32 weeks. We just got home today! If I had to choose I'll do it again. Dr's are so much better prepared when they know of the problem they don't allow things to get so out of control, with regular check ups and u/s. Thus my point being although I did get sick again as all the experts said we were prepared and I have 2 healthy outcomes!
