You are very welcome. My HELLP has unmasked my NAFLD. Make sure your dr runs liver enzymes levels and platelets. I got the most help from my OB and GI doc. And believe it or not, my psyciatrist gave me an idea on how all this ties in together. Keep on top of things. For myself, it has taken me months PP to get back to "normal" levels as far as my blood but my choles is still off.

Hi atvlady, thanks for your response. My aunt is a nurse and thought that it was possible because of how sick I was that I might not yet be back to normal. Right now I am going to see a doctor in family medicine. My OB wants me to start there to do general testing first. I see the doctor for the first time on Thursday morning.

I appreciate you responding, that made me feel a bit better while I wait :)

bwilson...I delivered in June of 09 with severe HELLP. My liver enzymes did not return to normal until November. As for the alk phos I couldn't say but what I can say is that is has taken my body that long to get back to "normal". When do you see a specialist and what type of specialist are you going to see?

Hi Brandy,

I haven't heard of that particular enzyme remaining elevated. I hope some of the other members chime in soon with their experiences. Welcome to the forum! Lots of good info here.

After HELLP - elevated alk pho.

Postby bwilson10 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 03:25 pm

Hi all. I had HELLP 5 months ago with my first pregnancy. Since the birth, my liver enzymes have been checked 3 time and still, the alk phosphate are elevated. My OB is setting up an appt with a different doctor to see if we can figure out why they are still elevated.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Has it gone away? Are there things you can do to help solve this?

Thanks!
