Hello! I'm so glad you found us and that you and your son are okay! And I'm so happy for you that you are meeting with a good doc! There are a lot of really good, top docs around the country, they all seem to get called "#1" by folks in their geographical area ;) . You have a lot of great questions, I'll let our wonderful members chime in with their experiences and suggestions.

A few forum policy things quick, I edited your posts to take out hospital references - we can't name doctors or hospitals, sorry! Also, duplicate posts play havoc with our search engine, so I'm locking this topic and directing everyone to your other post. You haven't done anything wrong, just quirks of this board! Keep posting and asking questions!

Anyone with suggestions and welcomes, please reply on ... 30&t=42224 .

Thank you and welcome!!

Sever HELLP & PE at 25 weeks....try again?

Postby rwpokluda » Wed Mar 23, 2011 01:17 am

have a history of severe PCOS. I had two miscarriages due to them. I had to use metformin, progesterone and Clomid in order to get pregnant the 3rd time and keep the pregnancy. I developed severe HELLP & PE at 25 weeks. The HELLP had stunted my son's growth putting him 2 weeks behind on his growth and the size of a 23 weeker. He was born by emergency c-section and weighed 1 lb. 4oz. Amazingly he is fabulous and doing great. He turns three next month. Since then I have been told that due to me having him so early on, at a young age (28 when I had him) and with such a sever case of HELLP, I would deff have PE again. The prob is how bad? The doctor that delivered my son at ****...who is fabulous by the way....has recommended a specialist here to see in Houston where we live...(we were out of town for a wedding when I had him..Thank you Lord for ****!). Anyway, this doc has been brought in to be the new In-chief at **** high risk maternal med ward. He also happens to be the top specialist on preeclampsia in the U.S. (so I am told). He has been studying it for years and has done seminars and trainings in regards to it. We are supposed to meet with him tomorrow to see what my options are. I want to badly to have another child but I am so scared. After my son was born I relapsed twice with the HELLP. My liver continued to shut down and my BP would not settle. It flucuated like crazy when ever I would stand up. I had to be admitted back to the hospital twice and then had to spend the next 6 weeks in a wheel chair till it came to a comfortable spot for my doctor. My parents and my husband don't want me to take the chance of this happening all over again. What questions would you suggest I ask in my meeting tomorrow. I have done so much research on PE and HELLP but feel I need more support in what to discuss with him. If anyone is the one to talk's him. I now also have fluctuating BP since his birth where I never had issues before.
Oh by the way. I have a video on Youtube that is set to a song that I wrote with a friend in Nashville. His wife demo'd it for me but feel free to check it out and pass it along to others who you think might benefit from the words and meaing. Thanks a bunch.
