Moving to Sao Paulo/Need a Specialist

Postby jtabor » Wed Jun 05, 2013 02:00 pm

Hello, this is my first post on the site. I recently found out my husband and I will be moving to Sao Paulo. I am having trouble locating a specialist down there and was wondering if anyone can help. I have been assured that I can leave for the US as early as 24 weeks by my husband's work, but as so many women (and men) know things can go seriously wrong before then. They plan to fly me to the US at 12 and 20 weeks for ultrasounds, but I am so uneasy about not having someone down there who knows how to treat HELLP. I lost our baby at 34 weeks May 2012 due to undiagnosed severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome and I can only imagine what I might get into down there without any referrals. I know I started having problems shortly after the 20 week mark, but didn't develop HELLP until 32ish weeks. I think I would feel better about TTC if I knew there was a competent specialist who could care for me while I am there. Any help is greatly appreciated and I look forward to your responses!

First, I am so sorry for your loss. Pregnancy after loss can be so scary I totally hear you on wanting to be sure no matter where you are you'll have the best care available and people you can trust.

Have you tried looking through the Universities there or Medical Schools? They might be able to guide you...

Keep posted,
Lauren
