I was telling a new friend about the walk-a-thon and about my
personal experience and it so happened that she is a preeclampsia/
eclampsia survivor! She had her daughter at 29 weeks after being on
hospital bedrest for about 2 weeks. She says that she was all
swollen (kidney failure) and the doctors did not think that she
or her little one would make it. Well, she is on fire about this
walk-a-thon. She already has people committed and has donations
coming in. [:D] She says she has told so many people my story and
hers. People are responding compassionately.

Gloria - what a great story! Thank you for sharing. Isn't it amazing how many women really do know and even have experience with PE? It never ceases to amaze me when someone says that they or someone they know suffered from severe PE. Makes you realize that its not as "rare" as people think.

I was telling my manager about the walk last week, and he said, "Oh yeah, my DOG had that when I was a kid."

Weird, but so GREAT that a man didn't have to be told why it's an important cause.

Gloria, that's awesome. Tampa is going to do very well for us, I think. Almost makes me wish I could be two places at once. Take lots of pictures!

Aimee...his DOG??? That's funny. I was a pre-vet major and I've never heard of that (not that I think he was lying, but weird). Hysterical...[:D]

Well, Alli, he said their vet told them it was pre-e & defined it as a calcium deficiency. Of course, this was almost 30 years ago, so who knows what it really was. But still, having lost a pet to "it," he's at least doesn't need to be told the dangers!

Hi Gloria! Yah, me, the babies and the dog will be off on our 18 hour drive (Doug gets to take the plane with the team...figures[:(!]) to either Toledo or Detroit next week. Wendy, from Toledo, and I have become quite a pair and have gotten a lot of great stuff done for that location. It will be really exciting...although, I wish I could also be there for my "home team." You and I will meet up...one of these days. Good luck with everything!
