Want Upstate CentralNY Walkathon...what do I do?

Ok....too many people in the Mohawk Valley region of NYS are uneducated about PE. I want to get a walkathon going here. I know it is too late for the nationwide. Will there be one next year? What do I do?

Yes there will be a walk next year. I think the date is May 13 - Saturday before mother's day. They are looking for volunteers so keep your eyes posted under the walk-a-thon threads. Jaime is just wrapping up the walk from this year so we haven't really begun to start on 2006 yet.

I'd love to work something out with you to get a walkathon going. I'm not sure whether or not I will be participating directly in the walkathon for next year, (by walking), as dh and I are hoping to add to our family next year. We'll be ttc soon!! my mother and I have talked. We are serious, as my mother said, serious as a "Heart attack" about this. We want to plan a Central New York, Upstate, Mohawk valley Preeclampsia Walk for May 13,2006, on Sarah's angel day. We will make this work.

I'll send you the e-mail address for Carol Hamilton, who is the National Group Coordinator. What you'd have to do is e-mail her and let her know who you are and that you'd like to be the area coordinator for the Central New York. Then the two of you will arrange a time to speak on the phone about it. Basically, she goes over what the PF is working on and what they hope to achieve. She's a great person, so you won't have any problems with that.

I am still working things out. I hope that I can become a coordinator. So far my mother has done a wonderful job of recruiting volunteers and participants already. Right now I am trying to work with her to solidify ideas and things. Right now next years walk is in its infancy, but with the show of force we have so far, hopefully things will get going here.
