Catherine...I know that Jaime will be having a conference call for walk-a-thon coordinators to get the ball rolling in plenty of time. First and foremost for us in PA was finding a good location to walk - you can seek out other organizations who do walks to find out where they walk..you can use a one mile course and walk it three times. Our location was only $75 to rent, though we really couldn't advertise due to it being a public park - I'm sure we'd find a better location this year. Nailing down sponors to donate money for the insurance cost, food, water, free giveaways like flowers, gift certificates, or donations is a good way to start. We gave out tickets at sign in and had door prizes when the walk was over. We had a flat of pansies and every family took one home. You can work on getting the walk advertised, etc. This is just a start.

Is there any information about how to form a walk in your area? I'm in the Richmond, VA area and would like to know what legwork is necessary.

Sign me up for PA. I will be moving there in September from Michigan, and not sure where my hubby will be stationed, but we are guessing Harrisburg...I will keep you posted.

Put Ann Arbor MI on the list for next year!

Even though I won't live here, the 2 members who helped me tremendously with all the work have agreed to do so again.

Question: What exactly does coordinating a local WAT entail? I'm interested, but somewhat uncertain...LOL Any chance I can get a bullet list or rundown of what I would need to do? Feel free to email me or post a link to an appropriate post. Thanks!

Ketchikan, Alaska -maybe?

Hi T...Jaime gave me the thumbs up for May 6th in Phoenix, and PF had walks held on different dates this year as well. So it should be fine.... :)

I can't commit right now...having to put TTC first and see what happens...if all else fails I'll team up with PA again.

Jamie, If this date does not work due to another walk in town is it possible to change it from one weekend to another?
