I was born and raised in the Bay Area of CA, actually. I wanted to go to College somewhere far, far away from home, so I actually spent freshman year at the University of West Florida in Pensacola (my Grandparents retired there, so I had some family nearby). Two of my great-aunts actually attended Belmont when it was called Ward Belmont (an all Girls school)- one was actually best friends with Sarah Cannon (whom you probably know best as Minnie Pearl). So we toured the campus and I just fell in love with it- and they actually offered my major, so I transferred.

My best friend lives in Murfreesboro, so we try to get out there as much as possible. We were there several months ago (in April) and had a blast. There are certainly things I miss about the South!

I really think you'll love it here- but boy, is it dry- especially when you are used to that humidity! : ) Defintley plan on investing in LOTS of lotion. Hey, one plus? You can actually hang your towels after a shower- and they are crisp & dry the next AM! : )

Another tip- buy a high altitude cookbook. It's something I didn't think of until after I had made my first batch of cookies... and they looked like some sort of animal droppings.. : )

Okay, now you have my life story.. lol! How did you guys decide to move to CO? Do you have family/friends here? Are you a TN native? (And, are you a UT fan)? : )

no, i am not a ut fan........we are actually Bama fans. so UT is a no no around here, as is orange..haha
my husband noticed a posting about this position and he applied. we then were asked to come interview for a week which we did. we love it! it is beautiful. I am sure we will really enjoy it....the only drawback is my parents will still be here. so we will all miss them a lot. but we will adjust. i do have family pretty close there so that will help.
i am not a tn native. grew up all around as dad was in the air force. a high altitude cookbook is a good idea. i hope most packaged cookies and cakes have high alt. directions.....i think they do if i remember correctly. i will learn the hard way i am sure!

LOL! Okay, thank GOD you are not a UT fan! : ) I told people I moved away from TN because if I heard Rocky Top ONE MORE TIME... LOL! Bama fans are good, though I must admit I'm an FSU girl (UWF didn't have a team).
