where do you buy pants for 1-2 year old

My featherweight just turned 1 and weighs about 16lbs. She has these cute shorts and skorts but the waist is too big! The tops are ok. Any recommendations on how we can adjust so that she wear and don't fall off??

Also, any recommendations on where to buy pants? She is long so the length is ok but the waist (as you can probably imagine) is so big. I seem to get luck with some capris from Children place or certain knit pants from old navy. But I haven't had luck with jeans.

Nicolas would still be wearing a 2T (albeit SHORT 2Ts!) if it weren't for adjustable waists in his jeans. The best fit I've found is from Baby Gap, but Old Navy, some Target brands, and Gymboree also have adjustable waists.

Yes, Target and Old Navy have some great adjustable waists. We too have a tallish skinny child!

I have found that the Jumping Beans line at Kohls has smaller waists for my taller skinny 3 year old, plus they are only $5 per piece!! Like others, I love adjustable waists!! I will also take the waist of DS's pants in if they don't adjust.

My son is 21 mos and about 31 inches/20 lbs. I have found the best waisted pants are Carter's or Osh Kosh, nothing else fits his waist even if they are adjustable. He's just now in 12 mos top/bottom and 18 mos pjs. We will do a lot of overalls this winter. I can buy tops anywhere but pants..usually the 2 brands only I mentioned.

my daughter is 28 month old 40 inches and 28 lbs- she is of the growth chart for height and only about 50% for weigh so it is especially difficult to find pants that fit. She wears size 3t or 4t shirts (more for length than anything) and luckily right now for summer the shorts are easy at size 2t. The problem becomes pants, when they are either too short or too big waisted. I have found that Baby Gap clothes fit her the best. They tend to be slimmer and longer. And I try to buy leggings more than jeans/khaki pants because they just fit her better. But I have been able to buy her jeans with adjustable waists from old navy or baby gap that fit pretty decently.

Thanks everyone for the tips. VEry helpful. I do buy alot of leggings and haven't had much luck with jeans. I am so glad she is in diapers for now...they add the bulk so that some things can fit!
