I went to an Expectant Parents Extravaganza last night at USA Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile and it was great. There were representatives from local baby stores , the LaLeche League, the March of Dimes, Enfamil, and others. The health department was giving out information on RSV and Crib Death. But there was no information available on p/e. So, I e-mailed the organizers of the event this morning and they said they would love to have the foundation represented at the next event and have requested more info on us. I think this is a great opportunity to gain public awareness and since I am new to the foundation, I don't know where to start. Please help!

Great!! We are currently waiting for the brochures to be available to download. Then we have to get them printed. As for more info on us, we need to get with somebody at the national level - we are all new to this, so bear with me!

Hi, Wendy! Welcome! My dd was born at USA. I LOVE that hospital! The NICU nurses are angels on earth. I live in northwest Florida now, but I go back to Mobile for Ronald McDonald House reunions and the NICU reunion. I lived in Mobile for three years after college and loved it. Then we moved to Mississippi, and I developed pre-e and had to be taken by ambulance to USA. I was so glad I had her there. I would also be glad to help with special events like the one you mentioned.

I gave the nurse manager of the Mother/Baby unit of USA Children's and Women's Hospital this website address and told her I would check into getting some pamphlets. She said they were going to try to hold the event annually so we have some time to get everything together.

Hey Ladies,

This is the other Allison. [:D] I bet ya'll thought I had fallen off the face of the earth. We have been so busy with the hurricane and Emily Kate being sick -Yikes! She is fine now, but was sick for 15 days! We had to go in to the hospital b/c Emliy Kate had rotavirus, hand-foot-mouth, and that high fever virus ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!
This happened the day after her 1st b-day, so we had to reschedule her b-day party 3 times! The scary thing is - she wasn't around alot of people to get all of that. She doesn't go to daycare (stays in a home w/ a dear friend), she doesn't stay in the nursery at church,no grocery store/restaurants, etc. Isn't that wild?

Anyway, I am still definitely interested in helping out. I am currently involved in a service project / fundraiser for the NICU's at Baptist East and South. I'd love to help gey the word out about PE. I know people atr WSFA and WAKA. (12 Talk / Today in Alabama, etc.)

Hey Allison, I know what you mean about the hurricane. DH and I are still cleaning up the mess, and we still don't have cable/internet at home. Glad Emily Kate is doing better. That must have been miserable for everyone. I've forgotten, are you in Montgomery?
