On Saturday, July 24th at about 5pm, I noticed that even after eating the baby didn’t move so my husband, Ethan, and I went to the hospital. The nurses proceeded to hook me up to do a non-stress test but after about 20 minutes trying, they couldn’t locate a heartbeat. An ultrasound was ordered and it was determined that our baby had died. Labor induction was started along with several medications to keep pain and my blood pressure under control. The doctor broke my water at about 5pm Sunday, July 25th and around 2 hours later our daughter, Janell Victory Allen, was born weighing 3 lbs 1.7 oz and 16.5 inches long. She was perfect and beautiful. We all got the time we needed to say our good-byes. It is thought that her cord was pinched as it was wrapped very tightly around her neck and three times around her leg. My husband and I are now recovering at our home, trying to figure out what we do now. We are already planning our next child, as in our hearts we know that it is the only way we can begin to feel better. This would have been our first baby and we are both devastated. Her body is being cremated and we plan to plant a tree in her ashes so that she can live on forever in the world like she will in our hearts. We understand that this was a freak accident and there was nothing anyone could have done to prevent it. Please, we ask you: live your lives full of love in memory of our daughter and never take what you have for granted.
