Anyone from South Africa??

Hi
I would love to hear from someone in South Africa who has or had PE before. I had PE and had my boy at 33 weeks . He was 1.8KG but he was fine and breathed on his own from day one. We were very blessed and today he is a healthy and active 2 year old.

I am trying to get pregnant again and would love to talk to someone in SA who maybe had the same experience or can give me some advise.

Would love to year from anyone.

Hi Ronel. I know right off of one lady that is from South Africa. I will send her an email w/a link to your post. She's pregnant and almost full term so she might be a bit getting back to you. Just wanted to let you know. I also encourage you to post in other areas on the forums, not just this one. The ladies here are great! You will find lots of support and information here.

hi ronel i am new too .. I am also from south africa although i now live in Denmark. I am incredibly homesick!!! I had PE and PPPE with my son William who is now 7½ months old. I delivered him in week 38 so fortuately he didn´t have to go in to nicu. he was still very small though only 3 kgs. And after he was born they said he looked like he was more then term as he had no fosterfat on him.
we are hoping to start ttc number 2 in August.. and i am terribly worried that it will all go wrong again.
which part of Sa are you from. I am born in Bloemfontein but grew up in Pretoria. Left Sa when i was 18 to study in Uk and have not lived there since.. but am sooo homesick. Fortunately my dh loves SA and we hope to move back at some point in the future.

I was sent this link by Anika.
I am just over 3 weeks post C-section (22 April 2006). Our baby was delivered at a little over 25 weeks due to my development of severe PE and Hellp Syndrome.
I developed symptoms in week 22, went to the doctor and received confirmation of what we were dealing with in week 23.
After hospitalisation, we managed to keep the baby in until week 25, however, with severe liver and kidney issues, including massive amounts of fluid in my abdomen and lungs, they had no option but to deliver the baby on 22 April 2006. Weighing only 600g, he passed away on 25 April 2006.
I was released from hospital on 25 April, however, was back in with elevated liver enzymes on 28 April. Released on 30 April again. However, back in hospital on 6 May with a blood clot in the sinuses that drain blood from the brain. The doctors believe the last 2 hospital visits were still remnants of the pregnancy complications and not indicative of an autoimmune disease like APS/SLE. They however, will continue testing for Lupus / APS over the next few weeks in order to confirm.

I am trying to ascertain the risks of falling pregnant again. And I was looking for a gynae who specialises in high risk pregnancies. I live on the East Rand / Johannesburg, but I'm willing to travel anywhere to get the best treatment!

Hi Jackie/Ronel , my name is Nitasha Baboolal , i lost my baby at 24 weeks(first pregnancy) due to hellp syndrome. It was the most terrible experience of my life. I was seeing a high risk specialist as well as a gynae but my blood pressure arised suddenly . I was rushed for an emergency c-section. If you have seen a good high risk specialist , can you please provide me with detailsas well. I live in Midrand -JHB , I am also terribly scared of falling pregnant again , but i so want to have a baby.

Hi

I would also like to get in contact with other South African ladies who suffered from PE. Our baby boy Jaden were born still on 12/04 at 37weeks due to PE and Diabetes type 2.

I also suspect that I suffered from HELLP, not diagnosed however. I have requested all my lab tests, will receive it soon.
