Hi, Ladies -

Are you evacuating for Hurricane Dennis? Looks like those of us in NW Florida (Jackie and me) and those in Mobile (Leslie and Wendy and maybe some others) may get a direct hit - again! [:(!] I don't think I'll be able to live for weeks without power in the middle of July! It's Ivan all over again! Plus, my sister is supposed to get married next weekend, July 16 in Milton. She is sooo not a happy camper. We're going to have to evacuate since we live within 5 miles of the gulf, and our road floods. We're just going to my inlaws, which is still in the danger zone, but they have a much sturdier house than us. Best of luck - and stay safe!

Can you believe this. DH is starting to board up. I've got a client coming to sign documents at 11:00, and then I'll go home (after stopping at the package store - i don't do hurricanes w/out rum) and start securing things. I'll be moving boats most of the afternoon and tomorrow. We are not planning on evacuating, although I will be in the closet w/ my rum when the wind start blowing. Good luck.

We are going to my in-laws which is only 10 miles away, but they don't have as many trees as we do so I feel safer there.

Leslie, I will be thinking of you and your rum while I am in a house with 4 kids and no electricity. My in-laws don't drink and don't allow it in their house so it is going to be a very looong weekend for me!

Leslie - share some run with me! My inlaws are out of town so we're taking care of my husband's elderly (mean) grandma! My inlaws and his grandma are insisting we evacuate to Jacksonville where they've already reserved rooms, but we don't want to be trapped getting back home. There's going to be a fight today! I really don't feel like driving six hours (probably 9 or 10 with bumper to bumper traffic) with two cars since we'll have four people and four big dogs! Plus, I have to go cover hurricane damage for the paper as soon as the storm is over, and I can't exactly do that in Jacksonville!

Well, this morning it was down to a category 1 and they said it would hit land as a 2, so we decided to stay. Now they're saying it will hit as a four, and this area has never seen anything so devastating. So...we're in for an interesting experience.
Logging off for now. I'll check back in tomorrow before the storm hits if we still have power and cable.

We're in Fort Walton Beach right now and it's getting pretty bad. We can't get in touch with our neighbor in Navarre. I hope he decided to leave because our neighborhood will be under water, if there's anything left standing. This is not going to be pretty....
