I may have to re read it to completely understand it...but hopefully something can be done for us here someday...it is so frustrating that this disease has been with us since antiquity and we still cannot understand it.

Wow! Very promising! Does this mean I could take up smoking during pregnancy to counteract the possiblity of developing pre-e??[:o)] I have a feeling the peri would be extraordinarily unimpressed with that idea [:I]

Confession time!

My first two pregnancies I drastically reduced my smoking, both I had PE, the last two I was bad bad bad and smoked nearly my usual, no PE....

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law both are smokers who cut back but couldn't manage to quit during pregnancy and they both had mild PE. I think I'll pass on taking up smoking though!

We can only hope that some smart researcher can figure out what aspect of "smoking" might be protective and then find a way to pass that along without the pack of Malboros and the bad breath!

i was so excited when i heard about the article at the conference that i had to go buy it at the airport. it was such a great article and its great to see that there are multiple drs doing research.
