New Connecticut State Coordinator

Hello Ladies,

The Connecticut Group of the Preeclampsia Foundation has had a change in coordinators. As many of you know, Jennifer Edwards started the Connecticut Group for the Preeclampsia Foundation, which really got the ball rolling for us and gave us the opportunity to meet and begin to make a difference. Big THANK YOU’s to you, Jennifer! At this time, Jennifer has some great endeavors going on outside the PF, endeavors that she truly is passionate about and has passed the CT Group baton on to me (after approval of course)!!! Jennifer will still be an active member with us! I was thrilled to be asked.

Okay..for those of you who do not know me I will give you a brief history of myself. I live in Uncasville, CT with my husband, Tom, and four yellow labs (yes, four)!!! I work as a secretary at the US Coast Guard Academy (love it!) and take classes full-time, online, through the University of Phoenix. I won’t bore you with the rest of my life.

In 1994, I suffered from a sudden onset of eclampisa ( I say this because I had two seizures within a couple of hours of each other) and HELLP Syndrome @ 26 wks 3 days. My son, Tyler, was born via emergency c/section and weighed in at 15 ounces. He was very premature, though not diagnosed with IUGR, and fought for his life for two weeks. At exactly 14 days after his birth, I lost Tyler. I just celebrated his 10th birthday on 3/9 and his angel day is 3/23. I had my tubes tied in 2000, then had a tubal reversal in 2004 and my husband and I are currently trying to conceive. It’s been a heck of a road, but I’m lucky to have great doctors and great support! Oh, and I'm 35

I can’t tell you how great it has been to have found the Preeclampsia Foundation. I feel like I found a place where women knew what I was going through, and I could give my time to help get the word out and make a difference.

I’ve been a member of the PF since October 2003. After attending meetings, I really got involved with posting on the board. A few weeks ago I became a moderator for the TTC section, and volunteered to work with a PA Preeclampsia member to coordinate the PF’s inaugural walk-a-thon.

Well, I just wanted to say hello to let you know about the change in leadership and let you know who I am (for those who had never met me)! I will send an email soon regarding our April meeting. Please feel free to contact me at any time…well, I am usually in bed by 9!!!

Hope to see you all soon!

Kris (35) & Tom (35)
Connecticut

My Angel - Tyler 3/9/95 to 3/23/95 (15 oz, 26 wks severe pe/HELLP)
Tubal Ligation 2/2000
Tubal Reversal 10/2004
Miscarriage 1/05

Hi Kris- Congrats on your new position! I'm a almost daily reader of these forums after having pre-e with my daughter. We too are thinking of trying again. I had all the appts with every dr I can think of (and of course everything is fine) but after 1 month of trying, I started getting really bad Panic attacks[:(]so we stopped for a while. We are thinking of trying again after the holidays but it is still very scary. Good luck to you and hope you get your BFP! Christine (Fairfield)

Hi Kim - Thanks for the welcome - I never really looked at the CT forum before. Did you deliver at B********* hospital? I had a peri appt there a couple of months ago and they were all so nice but I don't think my mind is totally convinced to try again yet. Are you currently TTC? How do you get past the fear? Any advice would be appreciated. No one else seems to understand. Glad to be a part of this group - this website is awesome. Christine

Christine, I started at G****** and ended at Y***, were not supposed to say hospitals, just to let you know, I saw a preemie specialist at that hospital you went to for your peri appt. he was wonderful, I have been TTC for three years now, with no luck I have a new husband, and we are having difficulties, we did IUI, and one round of IVF, email me and we can talk more, but the fear I found never goes away, the wanting of another baby to hold has been greater than the fear, I also know now what to expect this time when and if I ever get pregnant, and will watch myself closer, and so will my new OB, and i will listen to the doc more this time, when they say bedrest, I won't make it modified bedrest like I did last time. My girl is 5, is your daughter in any kind of daycare, Shelby goes to A childs garen for kindergarten.
