Ok I feel better now. That's how we figured out Ali was better too. That and I'd realize we were halfway through the day and I hadn't changed her bib, her outfit, or mine yet. She we started forgetting her Prevacid about 8 1/2 months. She's not throwing up all day long every day like she used to but she's still at 1-2% for height and weight.

I'm really crossing my fingers for outgrowing it at 2! He starts dental cleanings at 2 (per the dentist he saw earlier this year), so hopefully she'll be keeping an eye on that. Thanks for mentioning it though, I wouldn't have thought to keep an extra good eye on his teeth for that. And - just my luck - Jonathan has reflux too. He is still throwing up even with meds, but I'm optimistic he'll outgrow it much sooner than Alexander...

Holly, I feel your pain!! Jaidyn would vomit across the room *oh the memories*
Much like yourself we were well managed by meds.
Jaidyn began to outgrow the reflux at 2 and completely by age 4.
Another something I'll throw out there for you to consider is seeing the dentist regularly. The acid from the reflux can wear down the enamel on teeth fast than lightening.
Jaidyn had brown staining on the back of her front teeth that we had to keep a watch on and special rx toothpaste to avoid any further issues that could have lead to caps.

Sending my best wishes that this resolves sooner rather than later for you.

Fortunately, it's well controlled with the medication, but I'd really like him not to be dependent on it long-term. Maybe he'll outgrow it around 2 too! His weight gain is fine. He's around 25th percentile, but has been holding steady there for the last year, so it's really just me wanting him not to need medication.

With Abigail, she was a case of severe reflux and would vomit multiple times every day. She was also on Prevacid and Reglan, did not help much. We were told that she would grow out of it when she ate more solids...sat up...then pushed it to walking...didn't happen. Abigail grew out of it around age 2. I don't know what the trigger was. Now, because of her weak stomach she can easily throw up.

I hope that either a specialist can help control the reflux or his grows out of this phase. It is no fun!! How is his weight gain?

We've tried to wean off it a couple of times (Axid at the time), but he'd get miserable. The last time I had used the wrong doser and accidentally gave him about half his normal dose...that's when he started the vomiting. Before, it had always just been spitting up or trouble sleeping. I'm hoping he'll be able to go off the Prevacid at his 2 year appointment, otherwise, we'll be off to a specialist. He doesn't mind the medicine at all, so we're lucky that way.

Henry was on meds from 2 months until 12'ish. We found ourselves continually increasing his meds as he gained weight. I think that once his weight starting leveling out and eventually tapered off.

But, I confess that why we found out he was getting better was that we started forgetting his doses and he was okay.

We didn't have vomit issues though - rather severe stomach cramps / gas issues.

Alexander is 20 months now. He is still having trouble with reflux and is taking Prevacid. I had expected him to outgrow it by now, but no luck. When did your preemies outgrow the reflux? Or if they don't, what happens - do they stay on meds forever?

Thanks! Would love to get him off meds, but not if it means cleaning vomit constantly ;)
