My wife is currently 35 weeks and 4 days pregnant with twins and over the last 2-3 weeks has had many of the symptoms associate with preeclampsia. Being that she has a pre-existing heart condition she is alreay under the care of a high risk OB who is monitoring her weekly, but I'm getting nervous that they are monitoring and not "doing" anything, maybe because no one is really explaining the test results to us. It's possible that my over-active imagination and being a first time dad is getting the best of me, so I thought I'd post and get a "second opinion" :-)
Before her pregnancy, her bp was consistantly in the 100/60 range. Now over the last 3 weeks it has been in the 135-140/85-90 range. The did a 24 hour urine test last week and it was 237mg. Yesterday she had her BP taken by two different physicians about 8 hours apart, the readings were 140/90 and 146/92. We were sent to the hospital(3rd time in two weeks), they did labs monitored her BP(never lower than 138/88) and sent us home with another 24 hour urine collection. She has been vomiting a few times a day, her ankles have doubled in size and she has a headache that won't go away. I have no doubt in the abilities of her OB, and don't want to question his judgement, but is there a point when you shouldn't just monitor the situation?
Any comments are welcome, even if its to tell me I'm crazy. :-) I just want a healthy wife and two healthy babies.
