We know that many of our members would love to be involved in the annual WATs but - because of geography, time constraints or pregnancy - they are unable to take part.

In order to make sure that everyone who wants to join us in a WAT, can, we have come up with a new initiative. The first annual PF Virtual WAT launches this month, with incentives for members to raise pledges in aid of the Foundation.

The Virtual WAT offers a way to raise the essential funds we need for our research grants into preeclampsia, the disease that has changed so many of our members' lives forever.

We are asking members to contact family, friends and colleagues and ask if they would consider making a donation. Remember, every donation helps, no matter how small. Together we can save lives.

With over 6500 daily visitors to the website and over 5000 registered members, we are an online community with potential to make a real difference. As a foundation, our mission is to reduce maternal and infant illness and death from preeclampsia. One way in which we do this is through research grants. To fund one Vision Grant, we need $25,000.

It sounds like a lot, but break it down: 250 members donate $10 each and ask ten family members, friends or co-workers to pledge the same. That's one research grant, right there.

It is possible. We can do this.

To make things more fun, we are going to reward your efforts with prizes.

Collect pledges and earn prizes:
$ 750 All incentives below
$500 PF Sweatshirt
$250 PF Tote Bag
$100 PF Jump-Drive

To set up a team for the Virtual WAT and make a secure, on-line donation, follow these simple instructions:

Click on http://tinyurl.com/5vjmn4 to go to the donation page, fill in the highlighted boxes, click on the button next to I can't attend, then fill in the donation amount (dont use any decimals), next go to the FAF Team box, FW is already filled in (for Forum Walk), please type in your team name after the FW (it could be your family name, your company, or someone you wish to honor), then continue down the page and click update next to Total Amount . . . the rest should be self-explanatory.

Last thing to do . . . cut and paste the instruction paragraph above and send it to everyone you know! Explain what you are doing and ask them to join the Preeclampsia Foundation's Virtual Walk. Make sure everyone enters the same team name in the FW box, so we can track your pledges.

Donations can also be mailed to:

5353 Wayzata Blvd, Suite 207, Minneapolis, MN 55416.
Checks are payable to: Preeclampsia Foundation
Please be sure to write FW and the team name in the memo line.

If you collect pledges please email Kara your pledge total at KaraB@preeclampsia.org.
All online donations must be made by midnight (PDT) Tuesday, June 17, 2008 to qualify for prizes. Checks must be postmarked by Tuesday, June 17, 2008 to qualify for prizes.

Let's do this! Please report updates of your success to keep the momentum going! We'll post tallies as we go.

The Preeclampsia Foundation First Annual Virtual WAT starts: NOW!

Many thanks to Kara Boeldt for taking charge of this initiative.

If you have any questions, or would like more information, please feel free to contact me at: KaraB@Preeclampsia.org or email me through my profile.

This is actually a very simple, easy thing to do. I'm happy to help you coordinate!
