Re : Ladies who have suffered with PE & HELLP...
We are currently TTC #2 after losing out daughter 2 years ago. It's scary and I am very nervous and easily panic...but that's what happens when you are TTC

We are working on #2 currently so I will be posting and panicing LOL so far no good news but I am in my own catergory cause all of mine was before 20 weeks. Extremley rare.
Re : Ladies who have suffered with PE & HELLP...
I got PIH at 33 weeks then rapidly progressive PE and HELLP Class I at 35 weeks with first pregnancy. Pregnant again now at 21 weeks. My MFM advised me that I have a 40-50% chance of PE returning but it is usually later in pregnancy and less severe. He told me that it is not likely HELLP will return (2-4%). He checked a uterine arterial flow which can show a "marker" for developing PE (which I checked positive for). They are following me more closer this time and my MFM will be monitoring the growth of the baby via US every few weeks. He said that if the baby slows down in growth it can indicate a problem with blood flow and a possible onset of PE. There seem to be so many different statistics out there so really it is hard to tell. I am NOW armed with the information from the PF and my past experience that I will be more aware with this pregnancy. I was VERY worried about recurrance prior to getting pregnant but now realize that every single pregnancy is different and I just have to take this one day at a time and be fully informed of what is going on with this pregnancy. Good luck to you!

Re : Ladies who have suffered with PE & HELLP...
I did get PE again at 32 weeks but not HELLP. I had PE/HELLP at 27 weeks first time, 2nd time PE at 32 weeks. My son did suffer from IUGR as he was only 2.10 and I suspect my first son did too as he was only 15 ounces.
I am out of the baby business at the age of 41. I've lost one child, had 2 m/c and my miracle baby was born 22 mos ago...so thankfully my life is good.

1st-Miscarriage at 8 weeks
2nd-Born 34 weeks by emergency c-section, HELLP syndrome
3rd-miscarriage 5 weeks
4th-miscarriage 5 weeks
We are trying again. This time I am staying on Prometrium prior to conception through the first 12 weeks. I also will start Heprin shots for the first 12 weeks once I get pregnant. I am scared about the HELLP syndrome. I dont know if there is something in my blood test, but my OB seems to think I have greater than a 50% chance of having a HELLP or high risk pregnancy that puts me on bed rest.
Good to see other people with my problem. Around here, no one has evn heard of HELLP syndrome so it is hard to find someone that can relate.

Re : Ladies who have suffered with PE & HELLP...
I don't know the technical odds, but I know the perinatologist was saying I would be lucky to get to 36 weeks with my second pregnancy. My first I had blood pressure issues from 12 weeks. Pre-e from I don't know when and delivered at 29 weeks with Class I HELLP. 29,000 platelets. My daughter was exactly one when I got pregnant again. At 36 weeks one scare when I was vomiting. Blood pressure upa abit due to vomiting but a three day hospital stay and 24 hour urine showed NOTHING wrong. Needed a repeat c-section and large healthy boy made them decide to deliver me at 38 weeks anyway. No problems what so ever. The only thing I did different was take low dose aspirin for the second pregnancy.
Re : Ladies who have suffered with PE & HELLP...
I was diagnosed with HELLP after my second pregnancy...I was in intensive care for two weeks and had Dyalisis and plasma treatments done for months after...I was told that having another baby would make it come back and that I shouldnt have anymore kids, well 8 years later I got pregnant and had a healthy baby boy, but I did have high b/p all the way through my pregnancy and when it couldnt be controlled the dr decided to deliver my baby at 37 weeks and I had my tubes tied...I was terrified it would come back but thank god It didnt. quote:Originally posted by MichelleC
And have had another baby...
Did you get Pre eclampsia or/and HELLP syndrome back?
I suffered with severe pre eclampsia and HELLP syndrome with my daughter and was in intensive care for 5 days. I'm just curious if its likely to come back again in my next pregnancy. I know everyone is different but i'm interested in real people wjo have had it and whether it came back.
Basically i want an idea of the 'odds'
Cheers

Re : Ladies who have suffered with PE & HELLP...
I had postpartum pe with my first which led to congestive heart failure. All of my docs assured me it wouldn't happen again. Well, I just had my 2nd and had pe, then postpartum pe, and suffered again from congestive heart failure. We were all shocked that it happened again. I have been advised not to have any more children!! They said it will happen again and my heart couldn't take it.

1st - PE & HELLP, emergency c-section at 33 weeks.
2nd - PE, c-section at 36 weeks. With #2 my OB wasn't taking any chances. Pressure was rising as well as protein. They took him with the anticipation that things would go down hill fast again.
They are 19 mos. apart.
