HBP Advice/Opinions Needed

Well, over 9 hours in and Mom is now resting. We had a really bad scare when they went to put the epidural. We had the opposite problem, pressures fell to 83/41 and the baby's heart rate fell to 53. It was like an episode of ER, which is great, because they were able to stabalized both of them about an hour later.

Current issue, now the baby's heart rate is dropping with strong contractions and the Dr's are talking about adding fluid back in to cushion the stress on his head.

Good thing is that Kristi has finally fallen back to sleep.

Alright, finally after 17 hours of labor, little Matthew arrived. He did wind up providing us with the scare of our lives though. As Kristi was finishing labor, on the last 4 pushes, Matthew lost his heart beat completely. He came out with his cord wrapped around his neck, not breathing and without a heart beat. The Doctors acted fast and were able to recover him within 3 minutes. His minute 1 apgar score was a 1 and his minute 5 apgar was a 9.

He was 6lbs 10oz and 19 3/4 inches long. He is beautiful and Mom is resting fine. Thanks for all of the support.

How scary for all of you, but sooo happy that Matthew has arrived safe and sound and mom is doing well! A big congratulations to the both of you and a pat on your back for being such a great advocate for your wife!! Now you can enjoy!! :)

Congratulations and welcome to Matthew! What a continued scary time you had, though, with the epidural and the delivery! I hope all the health issues are behind you - please do keep those signs and symptoms handy just in case. Enjoy your new baby boy!!

Hi! I know it has been awhile but I wanted to thank everyone for your support through this scary time for both my husband and myself. Matthew is doing wonderful and such a blessing. I can't believe he will be 18 months next week.
It seems most of my friends whose children are a simliar age are now getting pregnant or trying for a second. We are debating if we should try again. I would like another one, but I could be content with just having 1. The idea of going through what we went through with Matthew or worse scares us. How would I handle bedrest with a toddler? Is it worth risking my life and Matthew growing up without a mom? I know every pregnancy is different.
