I haven't been on the forum for awhile so I just saw your post. I see that you are due in November, congrats! Has it been scary the second time around? I am hoping to be able TTC in January.

Hi Trish, I was in the florida area but moved to nyc, but go home from time to time. I see you gave birth at 23 weeks like myself. Did they check you for any underlying disorder? I am trying to conceive but it will be after Oct 2010 I needed at leaset 6 months although my hemetologist gave me the ok. Im on prenatal vit, folic acid, lda, and sometimes omega-fish oil pills.

Hi Trish,

Where are you located in NE FL? Yes, this pregnancy has been scary. It has been quite an emotional rollercoaster ride to be honest. But, I am taking it a week at a time. I am a little over 33 weeks. So, I have made it a month farther than my last pregnancy with no PE/HELLP symptoms. So, I am thankful for that. Just hoping I can make it to 39 weeks. That is when my c/s is scheduled for.

Good luck TTC! I know it is a difficult decision. I was told to wait a year as well. I actually started trying after about 8 months and was pregnant within a few months. Will you be seeing a High Risk OB/MFM? Have they run any underlying tests on you?

Hi Lisette,

About 6 months after my loss, my MFM did the thrombophilia panel. They drew about 15 vials of blood. I came back positive for hypothryoidism. I did not test positive for any other underlying disorders. They referred me to an Endocrinologist who immmediately put me on Synthroid. My Endo asked that I get my TSH level down to 2 before TTC. I did this and started trying again about 8 months after losing Rylan. I became pregnant a few months later.

Since being pregnant, I have been on the Synthroid, LDA, Calcium, and Prenatal Vitamin. Other than that, I am not doing anything different other than monitoring myself at home and by my doctors. I am up to two appointments a week now. I monitor my BP everyday, weight myself every two days and have been doing my kick counts everyday since 28 weeks.

So, if all goes well in this pregnancy, we may never know the reason. It could be the fact that my thyroid is under control now or that it is my second pregnancy. It could be a number of things. Of course, I am just over 33 weeks. So, PE/HELLP could still sneak up on me.

How do you like nyc? I have only visited, but thought it was such a fun, energetic city.
During my pregnancy I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and hypertension. I had checkups in the past and had high blood pressures but it had been written off as due to my stressful job. I now have a kidney specialist and thankfully my blood pressures and kidney function are very stable. I am going to establish with a MFM and ask to be tested for clotting disorders too. I figure that it can't hurt to be thorough?
BTW I take a high dose fish oil for my kidney disease. Has it been shown to have benefit in pre-e?

Hi Meghan,
I used to be at the beach, but am now in the Mandarin area. Whereabouts are you?
I am so happy for you that you are 33 weeks! I'm sure that you are anxiously counting down. How did you keep your stress level down when you were reaching the 29 week point? I am worried that if I get pregnant again that I will be a mess starting the second trimester.
I have an underlying kidney disorder and thankfully my kidney function and blood pressure looks great now. I am so thankful for that. I unfortunately did not have the best experience with my last physician, so I am looking for a MFM. Have you been happy with whomever you are seeing? I am thinking of seeing a high risk group in Gainesville.

Hi Trish,

I live in the Intercoastal West region off of Atlantic Blvd. and Kernan Blvd.

As far as the stress, I have had a lot of it. I do see a therapist and that has helped. Did you see anyone after the loss of Alexander? I also get prenatal massages as often as I can. But, at the end of the day, I am still a mess. I do not see how you can avoid that after losing a baby to this aweful disease :(

What OB did you see in your first pregnancy? I see ***** OB/GYN at ******. I also see ***** (MFM). They are locted at ***** downtown. I really like this group. They are very experienced and take all of my concerns and questions seriously. MY MFM group only consults. I will still be delived by the ***** group. I really like ***** as well. ***** now has a level II NICU. So, that is something to consider.

I think ***** works with a MFM group out of Gainesville. My issue with that is that Gainesville is about 1 1/2 hours away. When you reach the end of your second trimester, you will be seeing them a lot and that is quite a drive.
