Re: Group Therapy for Preclampsia surviviors
This board has served as my PE Survivor Group Therapy for almost seven years! LOL. A real face to face group would be nice. The overall ignorance of PE I have found in my general area I find to be alarming. (That is why I drive an hour one way to go to my peri.)

Amy. DH Rich.
Emily born 04/01/04 @ 37 weeks. 5.bs 15 oz. Severe PE. Strict leftside bedrest 3 weeks before delivery, 2 weeks postpartum. Postpartum PE.
Isabelle born 04/19/08 @ 37 weeks. 6lbs 9 oz. PE. Under care of high risk peri and bp meds throughout preg.
IT'S A GIRL! Faith Michelle" due 06/18/11. Under care of high risk peri. On Aldomet for bps and antinausea meds.

The contact information for our baby loss group was given to us by the NICU social workers. The hospital website also listed the group and how to contact it. Otherwise you could call your insurance or try to google it.

Is there somewhere you can look for such groups in your area? I am in IL and would love to attend one!

Re: Group Therapy for Preclampsia surviviors
I went to a "therapist" (don't remember her exact title) at my OB's office after DS was born because I was having difficulty with my emotions and all that happened to me and my son. She had never heard of HELLP syndrome! She worked in the OB's office for crying out loud. That is why I came here to the PF. Group therapy would be great but you have to track down so many people in one location to make it worthwhile.
Rebecca, DS born by emergency c-section at 35 weeks in '06 due to pre-e and Class 1 HELLP
Re: Group Therapy for Preclampsia surviviors
I don't think that a purely pre-e support group would be very helpful for me. I belong to an infant loss support group and we have many women who lost babies to pre-e and HELLP and I do find that helpful to talk to them especially. It's just that having pre-e but walking away with a healthy baby at the end, and losing your baby because of this disease, are two totally different worlds, and I'm not sure it would mesh well in a support group environment.

Re: Group Therapy for Preclampsia surviviors
If I had found such a group in my area, I would have joined to see if it could help me cope with PE. Instead I started individual therapy and a babyloss group to cope with my situation.

Group Therapy for Preclampsia surviviors
Hey guys,
I'm an LPC or a psychotherapist if you please. I'm wondering if any of you have ever gone to a preclampsia support group/therapy group. As a preclampsia survivior myself, and a poster here for a while, I would love to lead a group like that in my practice. I think it would have helped me if I had ever been offered such a thing. However, I was wondering if any of you have ever gone to such a group and if so have you found it helpful? If you haven't gone to one, do you think it would have been helpful if you had? Feel free to PM/ email me your experiences or thoughts.
