Asa Joel is here!

Asa Joel was born at 11:53am on October 23, 2011!
I went into labor yesterday (Sunday) at 2am - I knew something was different because I woke up thinking I was going to throw up. When I did get up, I went to the bathroom and had diarrhea instead. After being up for about an hour with that craziness, I went back to sleep for about an hour and it happened again. I wasn't up as long that time and when I got back in bed, the contractions started in pretty seriously. They were really painful in my back and 3 straight were 10 mins apart. I had to wake up my husband because they hurt so bad. When I got out of bed, they got closer together and more painful (but all in my back - that was the worst!!). So we called in and they said come on. They were 4 mins apart and went to 2 mins apart by the time we got to L&D. I was still only 1cm when I got checked!! I thought I was such a wimp... But once i got some pain meds, they got more regular and steadily harder. We finally were admitted around 5 or 6am and got the epidural shortly after. My BP actually dropped from that and they gave me something to boost it (which, of course, made me nervous) and got the low dose of pitocin going. I was 3cm then and got my water broken. About 3 hours after that, I was ready to push!! I couldn't believe how fast it went. I pushed for about 30-40 mins and his shoulder got stuck at the end, but he came out beautifully!! He was 8lbs13oz at birth and 21.5in long - the doc and nurses were shocked!! I was, too, really. I tore, but it hasn't been bad. Such a fantastic recovery compared to my section!! I'm already moving around and feeling pretty good. I have only taken Motrin, nothing stronger needed so far. Headed home tomorrow!!
So pleased with my VBAC and my sweet big boy - he's nursing well and sleeping well. Oh - and my BP NEVER went over 99/67!!! (and my uterus did not rupture, clearly) SO very successful delivery. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!!

I don't have pictures where I can link them yet, but I will try to do that this week. He's such a fatty patty. :D

Holy crap! I'm so excited for you! What an overly average pregnancy and delivery you had...you must be so happy. So, no jaundice or complications for either of our babies (remember we were both freaking about our weird antibody findings?) :D Congrats!!
