bad headache/ bp not bad

Postby txmom7 » Mon Feb 27, 2012 04:28 pm

I have a wicked headache. My BP is 146/83. My baseline is 115/65.
My go to l&d number per my OB is 160/90.
No other symptoms.
I am one of those chronic 'hate to be a bother' patients and the hospital is an hour away. If I call they will tell me to come in. With a BP that isn't really that bad am I crazy to wait a while and see what happens?

Hi,

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I would absolutely call them. Headaches are a serious symptom. Tell them about your headache with those pressures and let them decide. Going in for no reason is SO MUCH better than not going in when you should have.

Let us know what happens,

I'm assuming that Tylenol doesn't help the headache at all? (I've been known to down a couple tylenols and chug a caffeinated beverage, but a little caffeine helps me with my headaches/migraines.)

But echoing Susannah, if Tylenol doesn't help, I would call in.

I'm heading in as soon as my husband gets home. Tylenol isn't touching it and.my BP has gotten over 160/90.
I'm almost 34 weeks. I guess we'll see what my urine and blood are doing and make a game plan.

Crazy busy in l&d. Babies popping out everywhere. I'm in triage. Initial BP 169/81. Not so bad. Assume will draw labs soon. Baby is great, nice reactive strip.

No labs back yet. Systolic went up to 180 which the OB really didn't like. It is still fluctuating in the 150/160. Diastolic hasn't been out of the mid 80's and as low as 70 but the high systolic is bugging the OB. They are.going to keep me for at least 24 hours. If my labs are bad we are probably looking at delivery once the steroids kick in.
This is all per the on call OB. We'll see what my guy says in the morning.
