The PF Walk-a-thons need a new name. Can you help?

Hi Everyone,

The PF would like to give the Annual Walk-a-thon's a new meaningful and catchy name/title/slogan.

We all know about the "Marc.h for B.abies", and "Rac.e for the C.ure", and even "Saving Grace: A Night of Hope".

All you creative types, and not so creative types, please put your heads together and think about this one. Our Walk-a-thon's are the second largest fundraiser for th PF, our life blood, so to speak. We need something fitting, meanigful and memorable. Our tshirts currently say: "Taking Steps to Raise Awareness".

My thoughts are this. Most everyone I tell my Preeclampsia story to has no idea what it is. Including women how are pregnant or already had a baby. When a T-shirt says "Race for the cure" you immediately think "cure for what"? Or "Taking steps to raise awareness"..awareness of what? It's not about the walk it's about getting people to understand that PE is out there and killing women. So why not just beg people to research it....?

So how about "You Can't Prevent Preeclampsia" Now doesn't that make you want to google it?

Here's what I came up with the other day.

Strides Against Preeclampsia
A Healthy Pregnancy
Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies
Every 6 Minutes (from the every 6 minutes a mother and her baby face PE complications)
Know Your Numbers (relating to protein and BP)
Each/Every Visit (urging women to have their BP and urine checked each/every visit)

Here's what we came up with so far:
- We like the basic “__th Annual Preeclampsia Walk”
- or with the HELLP combo, maybe “HELLP Prevent Preeclampsia: Walk for a Cure”
- I also like the idea of using the statistics (like 1 in 12 pregnancies, or # of deaths either worldwide or in the U.S. over a year or past X years) in either the name or somewhere else on the posters/shirts. People I talk to are almost always surprised to hear how many pregnancies preeclampsia affects, and the numbers seem to have an impact. I'm having trouble thinking of other ways to work them into the name (unless maybe "1 in 12: The __th Annual Preeclampsia Walk" or something like that?). Maybe the walk info could lead with a couple of attention grabbing facts/numbers, followed by a basic title?

Will keep trying to think of others!
