I remember when I was released from the hospital I was given quite a few instructions, including calling the hospital with BP readings that were too high (I don't quite remember my call in numbers), as well as reporting severe visual disturbances, and various other symptoms. I was also told that I could get very anxious and fearful, and if so, I could get some medication to help with that.

Some women do experience PE post-partum up until 6 weeks after delivery, so it is important to keep that in mind. When you were released from the hospital, what have your doctors told you to look out for? If you are not certain, I'd call and inquire about it. I hope you will feel better soon.

My appt went well. He explained to me what happened and why i had the seizure. Told me I am not at risk to have another seizure. He said that since ive delivered the baby that my body is trying to mend itself. I asked him why my body went into HELLP and he couldnt give me a direct answer. He said in his 30 yrs of practice im inly the 2 nd person hes seen have a seizure and body react the way it did. My bp was 124/78 so that was encouraging. I decided not to take any antidepessants yet because i am breastfeeding. Its bad enough im taking bp meds. Im feeling optimistic today. Praying my anxiety goes away soon. Thank you so much for checking on me. I really need a friend to talk to. No one understands what i am going through in my familywill so they cant offer me support.

Hey hun, I hope you are feeling ok and coming out of the other side of HELLP! I totally feel your pain. I was fortunate that I didn't have a seizure as I was pumped full of magnesium sulphate! I have however suffered post traumatic stress from both pregnancies / births.......and I am currently diagnosed with post natal depression too. Sadly HELLP syndrome is not common knowledge to most and they just think its the same as preeclampsia. I am so glad I have found a site where I can finally help/support others who have had / have the same condition.

I am sending you lots of hugs at this time which is meant to be purely joyous, yet you have all the HELLP issues in your way x

I was also pumped full of Mag, for over a week before delivering, and i STILL had a seizure and had SEVERE HELLP and also had PRES. The Doctors in the hospital i was in had NEVER seen or heard of anyone in my case. I had the worst 24 hour urine sample they had ever seen in the lab, over 16K. My liver and kidneys were almost to the point where i needed intervention to keep me alive after my son was born (32 weeks 5 days). I was in a coma for 2 days after his birth.

I was told to AVIOD at all costs becoming pregnant again. Im 27, been married for 3 years and this was my 1st baby. I normally weigh 120 pound and i was swollen to 200 on my delivery day. I thank god every day that my baby is hea;thy and i made it through with no lasting problems, other than my vision is worse from the brain swelling. Ill take my 1 healthy baby over having that happen again any day :) tubes were tied on 7/9

Evansmommy - welcome to the forums. I am sorry that you had to find us here. It sounds like you had a brutal ordeal with HELLP and PE, but I am happy to hear that you and your son are doing well.
