Hi :)

I am pregnant with number 2 (17 weeks and 6 days) and am getting worried about developing pre-e again. I started to have headaches the other day medicine wouldn't touch but the doctor told me that since my bp was 133/82 it wasn't pre-e related since I wasn't 20 weeks. I am worried that I am going to be freaking out anytime I get a headache and it won't go away. I just started going to my ob (had been treated by a family doctor until 14 weeks for financial reasons) about a week ago and they already ordered a 24 hour urine test. I am hoping that means they are really going to watch me, but still I am stressed and really don't feel my dh understands.

My pre-e signs started around 31 weeks with my daughter, but the doctor had not mentioned them to me until I was swollen and calling them because I couldn't get a headache to go away. I was ordered to "house arrest" until I delivered at 36 weeks and 5 days. My bp that day was 160/110 laying on my side for over an hour.

About 1.5 years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS. Does having PCOS relate to Pre-E?

Any advice to may hopefully keep pre-e from developing again?

Welcome back! I very much understand the panic and fears that come along with ever little twinge . I am currently 18 weeks (to the day) and have "experienced" all symptoms that one could have, but all of them either related to anxiety or just pregnancy discomfort, as it is too early for PE.
Is your OB consulting with an MFM? Or are you going to see one? It might be a good idea to have one on board. I am glad your doctor ordered a 24-urine, which probably means they are checking your baseline. As far as you BP goes, how has it been throughout this pregnancy? Is the reading you got outside of the norm for you?

PS: I don't know much about PCOS, but perhaps somebody will chime in with some experience.

I am crossing my fingers for a smooth ride for both you and me :D

My bp hasn't gone too high as of yet. Called and got 24 hour urine results and at almost 18 weeks I was spilling 193 in protein. Makes me worried since it isn't that far from 300. Also my sugar was 116 so I felt okay with that. Thank you so much for responding Julija!

Does anyone know if my protein spilling is already 193 am I destined for pre-e again?

Having a protein of 193 already doesn't mean you are destined for PE. That's the good news! The bad news is you may have some underlying kidney damage that is causing you to spill protein. But this is why you do a baseline before 20 weeks - to see where you are. If you get to 300 they won't panic because you started at almost 200. It's almost like that is your "zero" now - does that make sense? Here is a good thread on it: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=44951&p=349849&hilit=baseline+high#p349849

Also, PCOS has been shown to be a risk factor in PE. There a lot of link and info in this thread. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=44250&p=346059&hilit=PCOS#p346059
Trish: mama to my 3 PE Princesses:
Elizabeth 11/6/03 induced at 37 weeks for PE
Katie 4/13/05 induced at 38 weeks for PE
Allison 12/27/07 induced at 36 weeks for PE then PP PE & BP issues for over a year

Thanks Trish!

Would it really be considered my "zero" since I'm in my 2nd trimester? I thought they tried to get your "zero" in your first trimester. Maybe I read information wrong.

Welcome back, Amanda. I don't really have any answers to your questions but wanted to say hello and say that I can commiserate. I know I'll be wondering about every head ache. I hope that things go really well for you and baby though!
