Just getting caught up, so glad you're back in the hospital, and feeling that you are in the right hospital for you and baby.

For what its worth, during our 3rd delivery my BP dropped really low, lower than it had been at any time during pregnancy and sure enough baby did not look good at all- would have failed an NST miserably. They had me skip a dose to try to keep it up, and when it went higher, baby looked better.

I'm hopeful they will find a happy medium- scary to hear what your pressures are without meds, again, so glad to hear you are back in the hospital.

So, they did the NST for about 3 hours, there was minimal variability but some of his strip was reassuring. So, the Dr says that at 30 weeks, they don't place as much emphasis on NST's but on a combination of the NST and BPP. He just passed his BPP. Dr says if there were decelerations then they would see the NST more negatively but since im only 30 weeks, baby having some variability AND passing the BPP is reassuring for them. My bp is slightly elevated, 145/95... No protein for urine dipstick. I know the dipstick isn't as accurate as the 24 hour analysis so I don't know what to think about that since 24 hour just done yesterday was 280. I guess my question to you guys is, have you guys heard of the whole business about NST's basically not being as accurate before 32 weeks? And what are your thoughts about what I've been told so far?

I am so sorry for all the drama, but glad that you went to a different hospital. I just asked my MFM ( whom I trust very much) a few days ago, when we would start NSTs and he told me exactly that. They are not reliable before 32 weeks.

I am so glad to see that you are back in a hospital getting monitored and that they seem to be taking things more seriously. I agree with Julija on the NST's before 32 weeks not being completely accurate.

Thirding that! My MFM never wanted to start NST prior to 32 weeks. Even then, it was difficult to keep any of mine on monitors, and we had many, many BPPs. Glad to hear you had another set of eyes check things out.

You ladies are amazing! Even if I have a much calmer state of mind and that is all that was accomplished, I thank you! That wasn't all that was accomplished though, lucky me... and baby. So, it makes total sense about inaccuracy of NST'S before 32 weeks. They'll do BPP's once weekly and I'll see the same Dr every Friday as opposed to seeing many at the other hospital. So, I feel so much better and like more watchful eyes are on us. Thanks everyone!

Wonderful! I'm so glad that you were able to lay out a plan that works for everyone and keeps a close eye on you and bebe. My MFM would either do (2) NST/week or (1)/BPP a week. Since we could never keep him on monitor, it was almost always a weekly BPP. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes quickly with no more blips! Keep us updated.

I will def keep you guys updated! As far as meds, I wasn't 100% comfortable with the recommendation but I don't know if I see them having any other choice. They don't want to see any diastolic's in the 60's which is often. So, they said to take procardia only in the AM. Take bp 3 xs a day. If mt pressure is good at night don't take labetelol. If its elevated (140s/90s), take the 300 mg labetelol. I guess that makes me uncomfortable because I'm in charge of something (determining whether to take the pill at not) and I'm not the doctor. Any thoughts on this?
